Leon Flach headed to Philadelphia Union - St. Pauli star among record transfers
After many years in the academy, Leon Flach has finally managed to break through into FC St. Pauli's first team and already scored a goal in 2. Bundesliga. Nonetheless, his time in Hamburg is coming to an end. As first reported by Transfermarkt.de the 20-year-old will join Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union.
Flach has struggled for playing time in recent weeks—partly due to St. Pauli's good form in the league, the Hamburg-based club has won eight of their last 11 games. US youth international last featured in January and has not made the squad in eight games. His current contract runs until 2022 and he will now earn St. Pauli a significant fee. Transfermarkt understands that the Union will pay in the region of $300,000, which makes him the sixth most expensive signing in club history.
